Would I be flagged for GE forever or is it worth trying this again in a few years? I successfully got TSA Precheck immediately afterwards but as I do travel to Asia (once things open up again), I did like the GE process and personally did nothing wrong. I have not tried to re-apply and figure that this event was the only thing that caused the revokation as I had no personal issues nor any criminal or law enforcement issues, personally.
I requested information about it but they said that basically “I did not qualify for the program any longer”. About 8 months after this happened, my GE was revoked. We had a tablet shipment in 2017 that was mislabeled by the shipper as assembled in the USA but were actually made in China and these were seized by CBP when they had a random inspection.(We did not advise them to put these stickers on them) They did not give us a chance to re-export them or correct them and we heard they were destroyed. I work for a computer company who imports from China and I am the purchaser. In summary, an applicant with one very minor violation and a solid ten years of rehabilitation should be able to qualify for the Trusted Traveler Program. One possible example of a minor customs incident could include a failure to declare a shopping item which should have been declared. I would also include a very minor customs incident into this definition as well. I have long suspected that the CBP Ombudsman might have an unofficial policy relating to one-time minor violations.
